AI Study Buddy

Inspiration

The inspiration behind AI Study Buddy came from my brother, who often found it difficult to understand and revise complicated study notes. Large amounts of information made learning time-consuming and challenging. This motivated me to create a tool that could simplify learning by converting complex study materials into easy-to-understand summaries, quizzes, and flashcards using AI.

What it does

AI Study Buddy is an AI-powered learning assistant that helps students learn more effectively. It allows users to:

  • Generate concise summaries from lengthy study materials.
  • Create quizzes for self-assessment and practice.
  • Generate flashcards for quick revision.
  • Ask AI questions and get instant explanations.
  • Copy and download generated learning resources for future use.

The goal is to make studying more interactive, personalized, and efficient.

How we built it

AI Study Buddy was built using modern web technologies:

  • Frontend: React.js with Vite for a fast and responsive user interface.
  • AI Integration: Groq API for generating summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and AI responses.
  • Styling: CSS for creating a clean and user-friendly design.
  • Deployment: Vercel for hosting the application online.
  • Version Control: Git and GitHub for project management.

The application takes user-provided study content, processes it using AI, and presents the generated learning materials in an organized format.

Challenges we ran into

While developing AI Study Buddy, we faced several challenges:

  • Integrating the AI API and handling responses correctly.
  • Managing API keys securely using environment variables.
  • Debugging frontend issues and ensuring smooth user interaction.
  • Designing a simple interface that makes AI tools easy for students to use.
  • Deploying the application successfully and testing all features in a live environment.
