Ai Study Buddy

📌 Inspiration Many students struggle with managing their time, staying motivated, and understanding academic topics without constant support. During Panda Hacks 2025, we wanted to build something meaningful — a judgment-free, always-available AI companion that could tutor, plan, and motivate students to succeed.

We asked:

“What if every student had a personal study coach that never gets tired?” That’s how AI Study Buddy was born — a web-based assistant that brings together AI tutoring, smart goal planning, and task tracking in a friendly, modern interface.

🛠️ How We Built It We started by building a quick prototype using Streamlit and Python to validate the idea. Once the functionality was solid, we rebuilt it with React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for a smoother, more responsive user experience.

The app is divided into three main sections:

AI Tutor — An interactive chatbot interface powered by OpenAI (or mock AI for demo)

Study Planner — A goal-setting tool with deadline breakdown and task visualization

Task Tracker — A clean checklist system with progress indicators and motivational quotes

Navigation is seamless with a tab-based layout, and the entire interface is designed to work beautifully across mobile, tablet, and desktop.

🚧 Challenges We Faced Prompt Engineering: We had to fine-tune AI prompts to ensure responses were helpful but still student-friendly.

Time Management: Balancing multiple features (chat, planner, tracker) in a limited timeframe required tight coordination.

UX Design: Designing an interface that was clean, functional, and friendly to a teen audience took multiple iterations.

Mock AI Responses: In early builds, we used simulated AI replies to keep the prototype responsive without requiring API integration.
