AI Study Assistant

Inspiration

We are all students who find it difficult to study consistently and we don't find enjoyment in it. So we decided to make a AI studying agent that helps students study more efficiently and have fun while doing it. Also, we all love to play games but it takes away study time and causes us to do worse on our schoolwork. Studies show that gamers study 34% less than non-gamer students so we decided to include game aspects to give those students incentive to study.

What it does

The AI(groq) creates a user friendly study guide for any material that the user wants it to cover. It takes notes and searches the web for insights and content to include in the study guide which gives the user a timeframe for how much they should study. It creates notes, flashcards and quizzes on the given topics. There is also many features that make it more incentivising to study. For example, we include a built in Spotify system that can be ran on your browser or in the app. Also, the game aspect of our website is a plant that grows and withers according to the users progress in their studying. If they get questions right in the quiz, the flowers health grows. Also, the more time the user spends studying, the more "coins" they earn, which can be used to upgrade the flower, and get better skins eventually.

How we built it

We built it upon many different APIs like Groq, Tavily and Spotify which host/connect to our website. We used Claude to generate our code, Aseprite for the image sprites, and Github for version control

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges were merge conflicts, API keys expiring + API documentation and live server issues with the command line.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having a mostly functional AI study assistant and having API's work problems. It is our first time using Agentic AI. Having a full-stack application is something we are very proud of.

What we learned

How to work as a team and correctly use API's in our code. Also, we improved our GitHub version control skills.

What's next for AI Study Assistant

We will ensure that there are no security issues that would prompt malicious users to ruin our website. After we secure our code, we will improve the overall design, and deploy it once its ready.
