The Polymarket Show

Inspiration

I was curious how the advancements in AI voice can be applied to internet entertainment.

What it does

There is no CNBC for prediction markets yet! We need our own Jim Cramer type! The Polymarket Show is a fun and informative way to keep traders informed and provides an interactive show that could only happen because it's an internet native show. Our 2 hosts, Max and Ben are both completely AI and interact with each other in a smart lifelike way. They react to the other person and are emotional in their takes. This adds an element of fun to this industry. Maybe traders will listen to The Polymarket Show while preparing for work in the morning or in their evening commute.

How we built it

The 3 main things in my project is LiveKit, ElevenLabs, and Polymarket. Very simple! I created our own voices for ElevenLabs that sounded like the characters I wanted. The characters I wanted were opposites of each other. One was a hype man type who get's excited emotionally about contrarian ideas. This is Max. His opposite is Ben who is analytical and data driven. They play off each other nicely and each viewer has their favorite.

I wanted interactivity so I made it so that each Polymarket market get's cycled every 2 minutes and voting begins with only 1 min left in each talking section. Each host gets 1 min to talk. Viewers can see the voting and pick out of the two markets presented. The hosts will then honor what market was picked by the majority and discuss it on the show. There is a voting scheme working all of the time and we ensure the same markets don't keep getting chosen.

I wanted a cool retro looking interface visually as well!

Challenges we ran into

I wanted this to run on Twitch because I thought about it from the viewers perspective that they would discover this through an already popular platform. I could not get interesting visuals with LiveKit and to stream it on Twitch. I finally decided near the end of the hackthon to get rid of Twitch and make my own website. When I release this after the hackathon, I will figure out how to get it on Twitch because it makes no sense to have my own website - nobody will find it this way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting some viewer interaction. I want even more interaction and will keep building features for it!

What we learned

I loved being able to make the voices more emotional and life-life by using some smart strategies. I am aware that the new voice models can actually start to understand emotional intent in sentences [shocked]. This will be huge and I foresee new categories of interactive personalized entertainment across the Web.

What's next for The Polymarket Show

I want to add more viewer interactivity such as being able to chat, call in, and send tweets to the hosts. Ideally I want this to be the mainstream consumer show for anything prediction market related and will be running 24/7 all the time for all viewers everywhere.
