Inspiration

The idea for AI Strategist was sparked by a recurring challenge faced by founders, marketers, and creators: the overwhelming complexity of planning, executing, and iterating effective strategies in fast-moving digital environments. We noticed that while AI tools were proliferating, there was no unified platform that could help users not only generate ideas but also structure, refine, and operationalize them into actionable, step-by-step plans. Our vision was to create a digital strategist—an AI-powered partner that could bridge the gap between inspiration and execution, democratizing access to strategic thinking and empowering users to move from “what if” to “what next” with confidence.

What it does

AI Strategist is a web-based platform that transforms open-ended goals, challenges, or prompts into structured, actionable strategies using advanced AI models. Users simply describe their objective—be it launching a product, growing an audience, or optimizing a workflow—and AI Strategist responds with a tailored, multi-step plan. Each strategy is broken down into clear phases, with suggested tactics, timelines, and even resource recommendations. The platform supports iterative refinement: users can ask follow-up questions, request alternative approaches, or drill down into specific steps for more detail. AI Strategist also features a library of prompt templates for common scenarios, enabling rapid ideation and adaptation. The result is an interactive, collaborative environment where strategy becomes accessible, dynamic, and deeply personalized.

How we built it

We built AI Strategist as a modern, responsive web app using React and TypeScript for the frontend, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices. The backend is powered by a combination of serverless AWS Lambda functions and a secure database for storing user sessions and strategy drafts. At the heart of the platform is our integration with state-of-the-art AI APIs, including Perplexity, Gemini, GPT-4o, and o3-mini. These models are orchestrated via a custom prompt engineering layer that optimizes queries for clarity, relevance, and actionable output. We paid special attention to designing a modular architecture, allowing us to quickly add new AI models, prompt templates, and user features as the platform evolves.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was ensuring that the AI-generated strategies were not only creative but also practical and context-aware. Early versions sometimes produced generic or overly broad suggestions. Through iterative prompt engineering and user feedback, we refined our system to deliver more nuanced, targeted plans tailored to each user’s unique context. Another challenge was managing API credentials securely and efficiently, which we addressed by leveraging AWS Lambda’s environment management and role-based access controls. Finally, designing an interface that balanced flexibility with ease of use required extensive prototyping and user testing.

We’re proud to have created a platform that genuinely empowers users to think and plan more strategically, regardless of their background. AI Strategist’s ability to turn a simple prompt into a comprehensive, actionable roadmap has already helped users across industries move from ideation to execution with greater speed and clarity. Our modular, scalable architecture allows us to rapidly incorporate new AI models and features, future-proofing the platform as the AI landscape evolves. We’re also proud of our prompt engineering innovations, which ensure that every strategy is not just AI-generated, but AI-optimized for real-world impact.

What we learned

Building AI Strategist deepened our understanding of prompt engineering and the nuances of guiding large language models to produce actionable, context-aware output. We learned the importance of iterative user feedback in shaping both the product interface and the underlying AI workflows. Managing multi-model integrations and secure API credentialing at scale was a valuable technical lesson, as was designing for extensibility in a rapidly changing field. Most importantly, we learned that the value of AI lies not just in generating ideas, but in empowering users to act on them.

What's next for AI Strategist

Looking ahead, we plan to expand AI Strategist’s capabilities with collaborative strategy boards, enabling teams to co-create, comment on, and iterate strategies in real-time. We’re developing advanced analytics to help users track progress and measure the impact of their strategic decisions. Integration with popular productivity tools and platforms is on our roadmap, making it easier to operationalize plans directly from AI Strategist. We also aim to introduce more domain-specific prompt templates and support for multi-lingual strategy generation, broadening our reach and utility. Ultimately, our goal is to make AI Strategist the go-to partner for anyone who wants to turn vision into action—smarter, faster, and together.
