Inspiration
Traditional attendance tracking using roll calls or paper sheets is slow, prone to proxy attendance, and inefficient for modern campuses. We wanted to build a smart, automated solution that simplifies attendance management for students and faculty alike using an AI-powered, real-time workflow.
What it does
AI Smart Campus Attendance System streamlines campus attendance management:
- Real-Time Scanning & Processing: Captures and logs student attendance instantly.
- Interactive Dashboard: Allows faculty to monitor attendance logs, student entries, and real-time statistics.
- Secure Data Handling: Manages student records cleanly and prevents duplicate or invalid entries.
How we built it
- Frontend: Built with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for an intuitive, responsive UI dashboard.
- Backend & Logic: Node.js, Express, and SQLite (
server.js) to process attendance events, store records, and manage APIs. - Deployment: Live demo hosted on Netlify and version control managed via GitHub.
Challenges we faced
- Setting up real-time state synchronization between the UI and local database without lag.
- Resolving Git remote origin configurations during deployment.
What's next for AI Smart Campus Attendance System
- Integrating facial recognition models directly in the client browser.
- Adding automated SMS/Email alerts for low attendance thresholds.
