Inspiration

Hiring at scale is inefficient and often biased. As senior leaders ourselves, we receive hundreds or thousands of applications for each opening and spend weeks and month to close an opening. We needed a productive way to evaluate and screen candidates. That’s why we built AI Screen - an AI Powered Candidate screening software to help you streamline your Job openings.

What it does

AI Screen is an AI-powered interview platform that helps hiring managers evaluate candidates at scale—beyond resumes and working 24x7

  • Create Jobs with AI Configuration: Interviewers define questions and topics to screen for, along with custom evaluation criteria for scoring responses.
  • 24x7 On-Demand Interviews: A unique interview link is generated, allowing candidates to complete their interview anytime. AI conducts and evaluates the session.
  • Custom Evaluation Engine: Candidate responses are scored by AI based on defined criteria (e.g., clarity, knowledge, communication).
  • Dashboard Insights: A hiring manager dashboard provides both aggregate insights (like average score, top performers) and deep-dive evaluations for each candidate, including transcripts and detailed scoring.

How we built it

  • Frontend & Platform: Built using Bolt.new for fast, full-stack development.
  • Database & Backend Logic: Supabase provides PostgreSQL database services and Edge Functions, which handle real-time business logic and evaluations.
  • Conversational AI: Powered by ElevenLabs for realistic, dynamic voice interaction and response processing.
  • Scalability: The system runs entirely in the cloud with Netlify and Supabase, providing a 24/7, asynchronous interview experience across time zones.

Challenges we ran into

  • Creating an evaluation system that was flexible yet consistent across different roles and industries.
  • Building natural, human-like voice interactions with ElevenLabs while maintaining accuracy and performance.
  • Ensuring reliability of Supabase Edge Functions for scalable AI-driven scoring.
  • Designing a dashboard that surfaces meaningful, actionable insights without overwhelming the user.

What we learned

  • Resume data alone isn't enough—voice-based interviews reveal far more about a candidate.
  • Hiring managers appreciate structured insights over raw data.
  • Edge-based business logic (via Supabase) enables surprisingly responsive and scalable architectures.
  • Good AI voice interaction (via ElevenLabs) can improve candidate experience if implemented thoughtfully.

What's next for AI Screen

  • Bias Auditing: Implement bias detection tools for fairness and compliance.
  • Live Interview Option: Add a hybrid AI + human mode for final-round interviews.
  • Multi-language Support: Expand accessibility with language and accent detection.
  • ATS Integration: Enable seamless integration with hiring platforms like Greenhouse, Lever, and Workday.
  • Candidate Feedback Summaries: Offer tailored, constructive feedback to enhance candidate experience.
  • Calendar Bookings: Block candidates calendar and schedule interview times
  • Phone Interviews: Extend the experience so that candidates can simply connect the interview on a cellular call.

Challenges Compliance

  • Voice AI Challenge: Using Elevenlabs Voice AI to evaluate the candidate appearing for the initial interview screen and make it more productive for hiring managers. Elevenlabs Voice AI does the evaluation for you and share a detailed evaluation report so the interviewer doesn't have to spend countless hours.
  • Deploy Challenge: Deployed the bolt.new product using Netlify and is live is the shared link
  • Startup Challenge: Used Supabase for the authentication and edge functions to integrate with AI business logic and also the whole database for the product
  • Custom Domain Challenge: Used Entri and IONOS to buy the unique domain that aligns with the solution we made "AIScreen.online"

AI Screen is redefining early-stage screening interviews—intelligent, scalable, and deeply human in insight.
