Inspiration
To protect and educate people who are unaware about the threats and dangers that developed over the past few years due to the rapid technological evolution of AI.
What it does
Registered users receive scam e-mails, sms or calls generated by AI to showcase the capabilities of this technology. If they fail to detect the scam and get mislead, they will receive feedback from us and the person that registered them or the company will get notified. If they manage to successfully recognise the scam as such, they will get a positive feedback as confirmation for their awareness.
How we built it
Based on Flutter and Node.js in combination with APIs from Twilio - to send SMS and establish phone calls-, Mailgun - to send e-mails - and OpenAI - to connect to an AI model.
Challenges we ran into
- Internet Connection was bad
- API for sending e-mails, establish phone calls
- Learning Flutter from scratch
- Apple world vs. non Apple devices
- Distribution with github actions for deployment
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
- Deciding and committing together on an idea creates strong engagement and motivation
- AI is more powerful than we could imagine before starting our idea process
What's next for Protect the Unconnected: AI Scam Prevention and Education
- Deepfakes with the voice for calls
- Deepfakes for video calls
- tbd whatever scammers will throw at people
Project status
The github repository will be kept private, because we don't want to give real scammers the chance to abuse the code we created. To see the repository for judging reasons, please contact us for access.
