Inspiration

I love playing board games. One that I played a few weeks ago is called Virus. Easy to understand but quite addictive. I thought that it'd be fun to give it a twist and have it on the phone. Since I'm a dev working with AI, I wanted to make it AI-related.

What it does

AI Sabotage is a 2D card game where you need to play against 2/3/4 players and build the AGI first. You can play defence cards but also viruses on your rivals to destroy their components. There are also special cards (Protocols) to make specific actions like destroy other user cards, steal, etc. The first one installing 4 healthy components wins the AGI race. You can play offline, online and in private games. There is also a global ranking. Private statistics can be displayed to know how your games are. This is key to improve your game.

How we built it

I used Flutter for the frontend and Supabase for the backend. Apart from this, some main Flutter packages like flutter_animate or Signals. On the AI side, OpenCode with DeepSeek and other LLMs.

Challenges we ran into

Not many, to be honest. Supabase was new to me because I always used Firebase, but after the initial setup, it's pretty straightforward.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I quite like the overall design of the app: both cards design and the cyberpunkish app design. Also, I'm not an animation expert, but when you play cards, they activate some animation that I find really cool.

What we learned

As mentioned earlier: Supabase + animations.

What's next for AI Sabotage

  • New cards
  • Sharper animations
  • New modes/DLCs
  • Desktop version (if app goes well)
