Inspiration

I come from a city in Pakistan, Faislabad. We are famous for having the most hilarious roasts and comebacks. generally, people are amused by our wit and quick responses. I wanted to recreate that vibe through AI. Let AI roast my friends and family in the freshest possible ways!

What it does

It roasts you and your loved ones for you! what is the best expression of love? ridicule and humor (in a healthy way, of course)! You can upload your own selfie to know where you stand. If you're feeling extra funny, upload your friends' photos and share their roast with them in multiple styles ranging from royal family to cali blonde girl! BONUS - Try uploading your mother-in-law's selfie and see what AI roast booth has to say about her haha

How we built it

I used Bolt.new to build this. I ran my first prompt where I gave it the purpose, style, features, how it works. In my subsequent prompts, I fixed the text, theme, component styles and images because I didn't like the original one it created. I wanted a brutalist theme for my single page web app, so I worked in detail to bring it to life.

Challenges we ran into

oh man.... getting the brutalist theme right was a big challenge! somehow, bolt didn't understand this. It kept giving me rounded components and fonts. it randomly threw in emojis without any placement. there was a tall section with just 2 lines, which didn't make sense to me. Getting the hero section to look like what you see right now took me over 8 prompts! It kept misunderstanding flame animations. it kept giving my clouds moving around. even attaching a photo as reference didn't work. it still doesn't look quite how I wanted it. But the functionality is solid and works! at the end, I ran out of credits to improve the web app. unfortunately, I am submitting an unfinished version. I planned to add real AI-generated roast voices, and successfully generated them using ElevenLabs. However, Bolt.new currently doesn’t support uploading or playing MP3 files directly. The audio feature is ready, but couldn’t be integrated in the prototype due to this limitation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I just vibe coded a fellow roaster haha. I will never run out of ideas. Plus, this can be a super fun activity to break ice at work. fingers crossed, I dont get fired!

What we learned

bolt is still learning brutalist theme and animated assets. I have to be so specific with my prompts, but bolt still might not give results I need. also, I can't add .mp3 files to the assets. I hope this is updated in the future.

Well, it's going on my LinkedIn! I really want to see if it sets well with users, then I might pitch it to an investor haha
