Inspiration

We were inspired to help talented job seekers overcome the frustration of their resumes being rejected by automated ATS filters. Our goal was to create a smart tool that provides instant, actionable feedback to help great candidates get the visibility they deserve.

What it does

ATS-Boost is an AI-powered co-pilot that helps you optimize your resume for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Users upload their resume and instantly receive a score based on ATS compatibility. Then, through a conversational AI chat, they can apply suggested improvements and see their score increase in real-time, boosting their chances of landing an interview.

How we built it

This project was built rapidly by leveraging Kiro, an AI-powered development tool, as our co-pilot. This approach allowed us to accelerate our workflow significantly. Kiro was instrumental in scaffolding our Node.js/Express backend and generating responsive frontend components with HTML/Tailwind CSS. The core analysis and suggestion engine is powered by a large language model, which we integrated to handle resume parsing and conversational feedback.

Challenges we ran into

Our primary challenge was ensuring seamless integration between three distinct components: our responsive frontend, the Node.js backend, and the external large language model API. Making these systems communicate flawlessly to provide real-time feedback and scoring was a complex technical task, even with Kiro accelerating our development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of building a fully functional and polished end-to-end application in just one weekend. Successfully leveraging an AI development tool like Kiro to not just write code, but to build a complex, AI-driven product, was a major achievement for our team.

What we learned

This project was a powerful demonstration of AI-assisted development. We learned firsthand how tools like Kiro can act as a force multiplier, enabling a small team to build and deploy a complex application in a fraction of the time. It's clear that AI is fundamentally changing the speed and nature of software development.

What's next for AI Resume Builder

We see a bright future for ATS-Boost. Our roadmap includes adding features like industry-specific resume templates and keyword suggestions, direct integration with job boards like LinkedIn to tailor resumes for specific applications, and expanding our AI capabilities to assist with writing compelling cover letters.
