Inspiration Remote workers and freelancers waste an average of 2+ hours daily switching between to‑do lists, calendar apps, and manual time trackers. I wanted to build one tool that combines all three – plus AI assistance to break down tasks automatically. The Personal AI Productivity Dashboard was born to eliminate context switching and make time tracking effortless.
What it does It’s a dark‑mode dashboard that lets you:
Add tasks – AI asks “how many subtasks?” and generates a ready‑to‑use checklist
Set daily priorities (drag & drop your top 3)
Start a Pomodoro timer linked to any task – sessions are logged automatically
Quick‑log activities (Work / Break / Meeting / Idle) with one click
View a weekly report with bar charts of hours per day and top completed tasks
All data is stored in Supabase, user‑specific, and the app works beautifully on mobile.
How we built it I used MeDo entirely – no handwritten code. The workflow:
One master prompt describing the full dashboard (tasks, timer, logs, reports)
Iterative chat to add three key polish features:
Loading spinner while AI generates subtasks
Collapsible hamburger menu for mobile
A 5‑step guided tour for first‑time users
Integrated plugins – ChatGPT for task breakdown, Supabase for database
One‑click deployment to a public URL via MeDo
Total building time: ~3 hours from idea to live app.
Challenges we ran into AI response time – the LLM sometimes took 8‑10 seconds to generate subtasks. Solved by adding a “Still working…” message after 10 seconds and a retry button.
Mobile menu behavior – ensuring the sidebar closes when a link is tapped and the backdrop works consistently across iOS/Android browsers.
Tour state – preventing the tour from showing again after completion required careful localStorage logic combined with checking empty task/time logs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of ✅ A fully functional, production‑ready app built without writing a single line of code
✅ Real AI integration that actually saves time (ChatGPT breaks tasks intelligently)
✅ Smooth UX on both desktop and mobile – the collapsible menu and spinner feel native
✅ Deployed and live within hours, not weeks
What we learned MeDo shines at iterative development – you can add one feature, test it, then ask for another without breaking existing functionality.
Spinners matter – users will click twice if there’s no visual feedback. Adding loading states dramatically improved perceived performance.
Onboarding tours are underrated – first‑time users immediately understood where to add tasks and find the weekly report.
What's next for AI Productivity Dashboard Calendar integration – sync with Google Calendar to pull events automatically
AI time estimates – predict how long a task will take based on past logs
Team version – share productivity reports across small remote teams
Mobile app – wrap as PWA or use MeDo to generate a React Native version
