Inspiration

The idea of using AI for online shopping and virtual "try on" was inspired by a TikTok video featuring two girls using an AI prom dress filter. I was surprised by how the dress seamlessly fitted in the video and looked so hype realistic that I almost mistaken her as actually wearing it in real life (aside from the shaking and glitching a few seconds later).

What it does

Our Business Plan follows the lean startup format where we planned the key partnerships, key activities, values proposition, customer relationships, and customer segments. It introduces how this AI-powered virtual try-on feature integrates with major e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Google Shopping, and Temu while also aligning with SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production: Sustainability Initiatives.

Challenges we ran into

Before we started the project, we struggled to come up with a new and innovative idea that uses AI are not already in use. For example, our initial idea was self-sorting trash cans using AI image recognition. However, we did further research and noticed multiple companies such as Clean Robotics have already used this idea.

What's next for AI-powered virtual try-on feature for Online Shopping

We've planned for the AI-powered virtual try-on feature to currently specialize in generating 2D images, but we could expand it to allow customers to virtually try their clothing in 3D, where a device scans the dimensions of the user's body and generates a 3D mannequin wearing the selected clothing.
