About the Project

Inspiration

We got the idea for this project because many students know that they have to study, but they don't always know what they should study first or how much time they should spend on each subject.

Students have to manage attendance, CGPA, weak subjects, exams and daily study time. So we wanted to make something simple that can look at these details and tell the student what they can do next.

What it does

Student Success AI is a simple academic dashboard for students.

The student can enter details like their name, attendance, CGPA, weak subject and daily study time. Based on these details, the application gives an academic readiness score and personalized recommendations.

It also has an AI Study Coach where students can ask questions about studying, revision and time management.

The project also creates a personalized 7-day study plan based on the student's weak subject and available study time.

How we built it

We built this project using Python and Flask for the backend and HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the frontend. We used SQLite for storing the data.

For the AI Study Coach, we used Ollama with Qwen 3 8B when the local AI is available. We also added a fallback so that the main project can still work when the AI model is not running.

We mainly focused on making the project simple and easy for students to understand and use.

Challenges we faced

One of the main challenges was deciding how to convert the student's academic details into useful recommendations.

We also had to connect the frontend, backend, database and AI part together and make sure everything worked properly.

Another challenge was making the interface look simple without adding too many unnecessary things.

What we learned

While making this project, we learned how to build a complete web application using Flask, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

We also learned how to work with SQLite and how local AI models can be connected to an application using Ollama.

Most importantly, we learned how to take a real problem faced by students and try to solve it using AI and a simple web application.

What's next

In the future, we want to add more features like attendance tracking, timetable management, exam reminders, assignment reminders, performance graphs and better AI-generated study plans.

We also want to improve the AI Study Coach so that it can give more personalized suggestions based on the student's complete academic history.

Conclusion

We made Student Success AI with one simple idea: students should be able to understand where they are in their academics and what they should do next.

We wanted to keep it simple, useful and easy to use instead of making it a complicated system.
