VisionStock AI — AI-Powered Inventory Management Using Computer Vision

Inspiration

We were inspired to make inventory management smarter, faster, and easier for households and small businesses. Manual stock counting takes time and can lead to mistakes or unexpected shortages. We wanted to create a solution that uses computer vision and cloud technology to simplify this process.

What It Does

VisionStock AI helps users identify household and store items from images, track product quantities, and receive low-stock alerts. OpenCV processes uploaded images to detect objects, while AWS services support cloud storage, inventory records, and notifications.

How We Built It

We designed a user-friendly dashboard for uploading images, viewing detected items, managing inventory, and monitoring stock levels. Our planned workflow connects OpenCV object detection with AWS S3 for image storage, Amazon DynamoDB for inventory records, and Amazon SNS for low-stock notifications.

Challenges We Faced

We considered challenges such as accurately detecting multiple objects, counting similar items, maintaining reliable inventory records, and connecting computer vision with cloud services. We focused on designing a clear workflow that can be tested and improved step by step.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We developed the VisionStock AI concept into a practical inventory management solution with a clear computer vision and AWS integration workflow. We are proud of combining AI, automation, and cloud technology to address a real-world problem.

What We Learned

We learned how computer vision can support inventory automation, how cloud services can manage application data, and why user-friendly design, reliable detection, and secure integration are important when building AI-powered applications.

What's Next

We plan to improve object detection and counting, support real-time camera scanning, add inventory forecasting, provide smart restocking recommendations, and strengthen AWS integration. Our long-term goal is to make VisionStock AI an affordable and reliable inventory assistant for homes and small businesses.
