Inspiration

Last month, I took my mother to the nearest diagnostics lab for a health checkup. It was early in the morning, and the place was packed with people, all waiting for tests. When I approached the receptionist to inquire about available packages, she seemed overwhelmed and hurriedly handed me a brochure without any explanation. After going through the brochure and discussing it with my mom, we selected a package and began the process.

However, we had no clear idea of how long each test would take. I was unsure if I had enough time to eat breakfast or if we’d be done quickly. To make matters more confusing, after some initial tests, my mother was informed that an additional test needed to be done after breakfast—one that wasn’t included in the package we had chosen.

This experience made me realize how much clarity and transparency are missing in diagnostic center processes. It inspired me to build an AI assistant that could provide clear, instant responses to users' queries about health checkups, test packages, timelines, and more—all from the comfort of their home.

What it does

The project is an AI-powered assistant for healthcare diagnostics, built for Sam Labs and clinics. Using ElevenLabs AI, it allows users to interact via natural voice or text to:

• Ask questions about available health checkup packages
• Understand the steps involved in each test
• Get estimates on test duration
• Plan their visits more efficiently and comfortably

How we built it

We used ElevenLabs' conversational AI to create a virtual assistant capable of interacting naturally with users. The assistant is embedded in a user-friendly web interface where users can explore test packages, get recommendations, and ask questions in real time. The backend integrates health package data from clinics and uses structured responses to ensure clarity and consistency.

• Understanding real-world clinic workflows to make the assistant truly helpful
• Designing conversations that are both medically accurate and user-friendly
• Ensuring that the AI responds clearly, even when users have vague or non-specific queries
• Building a reliable voice interface that feels natural and intuitive

What's next for Sam Labs

We plan to:

• Expand the assistant’s capabilities with appointment booking and live tracking
• Integrate multi-language support for broader accessibility
• Partner with more diagnostics labs and hospitals
• Add real-time test progress updates and post-test follow-up advice
