InspirationThe idea for AI-Powered Health Navigator came from a desire to simplify healthcare access for people facing everyday health questions. Many people struggle with managing minor health issues, finding reliable information, and navigating local healthcare facilities. Our team was inspired to create an AI-driven tool that can empower users with quick, personalized health guidance, regardless of location.
What it does
Building this project taught us the value of user-centric design and how AI can transform health access. We learned the importance of understanding common health questions users have and how predictive analytics could offer timely, relevant suggestions. Additionally, we gained experience in data handling, privacy concerns, and creating an app that balances technology with empathy.
How we built it
The app was built using a combination of machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and location-based services. We trained our AI models on health data to recognize common symptoms and potential conditions, using data from reputable sources such as data.gov.sg to ensure accuracy and relevance. The app’s intuitive design and interactive interface were developed with user experience in mind, providing a seamless flow from symptom input to recommended actions.
Challenges we ran into
Data Privacy: Ensuring user data security was a major focus. We implemented strong encryption and anonymization techniques to maintain data privacy.
Accuracy of AI Predictions: Training the AI to provide accurate and relevant insights required significant time, testing, and access to diverse health data.
User Engagement: Designing an interface that users find both functional and easy to navigate was crucial. We ran multiple user tests to refine this aspect of the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript
What we learned
Frameworks: TensorFlow for AI model building, Flask for backend, React Native for mobile development
Cloud Services: AWS for hosting and data storage
Database: MongoDB for managing user and health data
