Inspiration
Alzheimer’s affects millions of families worldwide, and early awareness is often the biggest challenge. I wanted to explore how everyday written language might reveal subtle communication or memory changes—without making medical claims—while raising awareness responsibly. This inspired me to build an educational tool that analyzes language patterns.
What it does
The AI-Powered Alzheimer’s Language Insight Tool allows users to enter a short text describing daily memory or communication experiences. The system analyzes the text for linguistic patterns such as repetition, sentence clarity, structure, and vocabulary usage. It then provides an educational summary explaining these patterns in simple terms, along with a clear disclaimer stating it is not a diagnostic tool.
How I built it
- Streamlit for the web interface
- Claude AI for text pattern analysis
- Python for backend logic
- Prompt engineering to ensure safe, educational outputs
- UI design focused on clarity, accessibility, and simplicity
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was ensuring ethical boundaries — keeping the tool educational rather than diagnostic. I refined prompts, added strong disclaimers, and avoided medical interpretations while still offering meaningful language insights.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a working Streamlit demo
- Integrated Claude safely and effectively
- Produced insightful feedback without crossing medical boundaries
- Created awareness while using AI responsibly
What we learned
I learned:
- prompt engineering
- responsible AI design
- building a Streamlit app from scratch
- balancing helpfulness with ethical constraints
What's next for the AI-Powered Alzheimer’s Language Insight Tool
Future improvements may include:
- mobile support
- multilingual input
- improved visual language pattern analytics
- collaborating with experts to ensure safety and usability
This project is designed strictly for educational awareness and is not a diagnostic tool.
