Inspiration
Our AI Party Planner was born out of a bit of a mess, really. Picture this: we're at East Coast Park, trying to have a good time with a class bonding party, but everything's all over the place. The spot we picked ended up being super inconvenient, we ran out of snacks pretty quick, and there we were, desperately ordering pizzas to save us from our collective hunger. It was chaotic, to say the least, and it got us thinking – there had to be a better way to do this.
So, we got to work and came up with our AI Party Planner. It's our little invention, inspired by that crazy day, designed to make organizing events a whole lot easier. We've packed it with some smart AI to help tackle all the tricky bits of planning, from picking the perfect location to making sure you've got enough food for everyone. Our goal? To make sure no one else has to go through the kind of party panic we did.
What it does
This AI platform will provide personalized recommendations for everything from venue selection and decor to music playlists and food menus, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable party experience for hosts and attendees alike.
How we built it
It's pretty straightforward: you just tell the AI party planner, PartRock, what you need for your party. PartRock takes care of all the essentials – the food, music, decorations, you name it. All we have to do is move some things around on the screen to make it look nice. Easy peasy!
Challenges we ran into
Oh, tackling the location widget has been a real journey, let me tell you. We gave it a shot, multiple shots actually, but just couldn't get it to work the way we wanted. It felt like hitting a wall, over and over. Then, out of nowhere, this lightbulb moment happened – it turns out the chatbot we'd been tinkering with for other stuff could actually suggest party locations. Who would've thought, right? Suddenly, what felt like a dead-end turned into a whole new path forward.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
You know, the biggest accomplishments for us wasn’t just finishing our AI party planner app; it was seeing the kind of results it churned out. To be totally honest, we were bracing for the AI to spit back some pretty mediocre suggestions. We figured, "Hey, as long as it's somewhat helpful, we're on the right track." But, boy, were we in for a surprise! The responses we got weren't just good; they were fantastic. It was like the AI really put its thinking cap on. Seeing it exceed our expectations like that? Absolutely thrilling.
What we learned
We really dove into PartyRock's user interface and got to grips with how the AI operates. Along the way, we picked up some invaluable skills – like teamwork and communication. Turns out, they're pretty essential when you're tackling a project like this.
What's next for AI: Party Planner
We're eyeing some exciting expansions next. This means not only will our AI help plan those small, personal hangouts but also step up to manage big events. Plus, we’re thinking about adding features that let the app adjust plans based on the weather or even guest feedback in real time. It’s all about making your event run smoother, no matter what comes up.
