Inspiration

As students, we were tired of the chaotic job search. We spent too much time scrolling through websites and often missed deadlines. We wanted to build an "AI buddy" to automate this entire process and make it easy.

What it does

Our AI agent automatically finds job opportunities. It takes messy data, cleans it up, filters out jobs that aren't for students, and adds useful info. Then, it puts everything into a clean Airtable list and sends you a personal email for every good opportunity.

How we built it

We used a few key tools:

Airtable to store our data.

n8n to build the main automatic workflow.

The gpt-oss-120b model to act as the "brain" for understanding and filtering the job info.

Gmail to send the final email alerts.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was teaching the AI to understand the job descriptions perfectly. It took a lot of tries to write the right instructions (prompts) so it would always filter out the senior-level jobs and give us clean data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud that we built a complete, automatic system that actually works from start to finish. Seeing it turn a messy list into a clean, organized dashboard was our "magic moment." It solves a real problem we face every day.

What we learned

We learned how to use powerful tools like n8n to connect different apps and build an automated workflow. We also got much better at telling an AI exactly what to do to get the results we needed.

What's next for AI Opportunity Scout (Buddy)

This is just the start. Next, we want to:

Connect it to live websites to get real job posts automatically.

Build a simple front-end so users can set their own job preferences.

Make the AI even smarter at finding the perfect job for each person.
