Inspiration
While working in network operations, I noticed that coordinating maintenance activities and field work still relies heavily on spreadsheets, emails, phone calls, and manual tracking. Scheduling technicians, validating information, generating operational documents, and following up on requests consume a significant amount of time and are prone to human error.
I wanted to build a solution where AI agents and automation could work together to reduce repetitive administrative tasks while keeping humans involved for critical decisions.
This project was inspired by a real operational need rather than a hypothetical use case.
What it does
AI Network Operations Coordinator automates the complete lifecycle of a network operation request.
The platform allows operators to submit requests through a web portal, validates the information automatically, detects missing fields, organizes maintenance schedules, generates operational documentation, stores evidence, and keeps every stakeholder updated.
When exceptions occur, AI agents assist users by requesting missing information or suggesting the next best action, while UiPath Maestro orchestrates the entire workflow from request creation to completion.
How we built it
The solution combines several technologies:
- Flask for the web application
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the user interface
- Python for the business logic
- UiPath Maestro for workflow orchestration
- AI agents for validation and decision support
- Automated document generation
- Image management for operational evidence
- Email notifications
- Virtual Machine deployment for centralized access
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was coordinating multiple steps that normally happen independently, such as scheduling, document generation, evidence management, and user interaction.
Another challenge was designing a solution that could integrate AI assistance without replacing human operators, allowing people to remain in control whenever operational decisions are required.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working MVP capable of reducing manual work in network operations by centralizing scheduling, documentation, and workflow management in a single platform.
The project demonstrates how AI agents can collaborate with humans instead of simply automating isolated tasks.
What we learned
This project taught us that the greatest value of AI is not replacing people, but orchestrating information, reducing repetitive work, and helping teams make faster and better decisions.
We also learned how workflow orchestration can transform traditional network operations into intelligent, collaborative processes.
What's next for AI Network Operations Coordinator
Future improvements include:
- Automatic technician assignment using AI
- Predictive maintenance recommendations
- Integration with network monitoring platforms
- Calendar synchronization with Microsoft Outlook
- Mobile application for field technicians
- Real-time dashboards for Network Operations Centers (NOCs)
