We were strangers from different worlds, yet united by one thing:

So, we built one.
An AI-powered, emotion-fueled platform that understands your mood and delivers music that feels like a hug, a dance break, or a good cry. 😭🕺

What It Does

VibeSync is your personal AI music assistant.

  • It reads your mood based on your inputs or preferences.
  • It generates playlists that match your emotional state, offering a soundtrack for every moment — whether it's a chill vibe or an intense workout.
  • Powered by Google Gemini and Spotify Web API, VibeSync curates music that resonates deeply with your mood, creating a personalized, emotion-driven playlist.

How We Built It

We came together from across the globe, combining our unique skills, tech stacks, and time zones to build VibeSync:

🌐 Collaboration

  • Coordinated over Slack, GitHub, and late-night Google Meets
  • Integrated skills across frontend, backend, UI/UX, and AI to create a seamless experience

🧠 Tech Stack Highlights

  • React + TypeScript for a responsive, intuitive frontend
  • Cloudflare Workers + Hono for a fast, scalable serverless backend
  • Google Gemini API for generating mood-based playlists
  • Spotify Web API for adding real-time track data and rich media to playlists

Challenges We Ran Into

  • Coordinating Async Work Across Time Zones: With five team members in different countries, syncing up was a challenge. We had to embrace flexibility and trust each other’s contributions.
  • Gemini’s Unpredictable Responses: Sometimes the AI didn’t “get” the vibe we were aiming for. We worked hard to fine-tune its output and make it more consistent. 🥲
  • Designing for Global Audiences: We wanted the platform to feel personal, yet universal. Balancing these two aspects was a constant creative challenge.

Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of😎

  • Creating a Truly Universal Experience: Despite the geographical and cultural differences, we built a product that speaks to everyone’s shared love of music.
  • Tech Integration: Combining Google Gemini’s AI with Spotify’s API seamlessly was no small feat, and we’re thrilled with how well it came together.
  • Rapid Development: We built VibeSync from scratch in record time, learning and adapting along the way — fueled by passion, coffee, and memes. 😅

  • The Chaos of AI: Embracing the unpredictability of AI-generated content and learning to work with it was both frustrating and fascinating.
