Inspiration
This project started with someone close to me struggling to understand a medical report.
The report contained numbers, medical terms, reference ranges, and findings, but understanding what they actually meant was difficult. The harder part came afterward: finding reliable medical guidance quickly.
There were simple but important questions:
What does this mean? Is it serious? What should we do next? Who should we consult?
That experience made me realize that healthcare information is often available, but understanding and acting on that information is the real challenge.
That led me to a question:
What if AI could help people understand their medical reports and find relevant guidance faster?
I started with the idea of an AI report reader, but it evolved into something bigger: an AI health copilot that connects medical findings, relevant knowledge, explanations, and next steps.
What it does
Our project is an AI-powered Medical Report Analyzer that transforms complex medical documents into understandable, actionable information.
Users can upload medical reports such as blood reports, scanned documents, prescriptions, discharge summaries, and medical images. The system then:
- Extracts information from the uploaded document using text processing and multimodal AI.
- Detects abnormal findings and assigns an overall severity level.
- Retrieves relevant medical knowledge using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Explains medical findings in simpler language.
- Supports English and Hindi.
- Provides specialist and urgency guidance specific to the Indian healthcare context.
- Generates a downloadable, color-coded
.docxreport.
Instead of simply answering "What does this report say?", the system tries to answer the more useful questions:
What is important? Why is it important? What information supports it? And what should I discuss with a healthcare professional?
The system is designed to assist understanding, not replace doctors or provide a medical diagnosis.
How we built it
We built the application as a multi-agent AI system using LangGraph.
