Inspiration

Local marketplaces often lack transparency, fair pricing, and efficient negotiation between buyers and sellers. As a user, it’s hard to find reliable sellers with fair prices, and as a seller, it’s difficult to know what price the market actually accepts. We were inspired to build MarketBridge to solve both problems using AI — acting as a smart assistant for buyers and sellers, helping them meet in the middle faster and smarter.

What it does

MarketBridge is an AI-powered marketplace assistant that works for both sides: For buyers: Helps search products using natural language Recommends trusted sellers with good ratings and fair prices Assists in negotiation to reach a reasonable deal For sellers: Analyzes uploaded product images Studies current market prices Suggests the optimal selling price Shows incoming orders and buyer offers clearly The AI becomes a bridge between buyer and seller — saving time, money, and effort.

How we built it

Frontend interface for buyer and seller flows Google Gemini API as the core AI engine Prompt engineering for: Product search Price comparison Negotiation logic Image-based product analysis No separate backend — everything runs directly through Gemini-powered logic The focus was on speed, clarity, and real-life usability.

Challenges we ran into

Designing AI prompts that give consistent and realistic pricing advice Handling different user roles (buyer vs seller) smoothly Making sure AI recommendations stay understandable and trustworthy Working without a traditional backend while keeping logic structured
