Inspiration

I was inspired to create this AI trading algorithm from a simple thought: “If AI is so smart, it should be able to money for me.” However, I quickly learned that profitable trading is far more complex than just automating entries and exits. My goal was to develop a tool that could identify high-probability trade setups and provide traders with a smarter way to navigate the market.

What it does

AI Liquidity Tracker is a trading algorithm that scans the market 24/7, looking for optimal trading opportunities within a day. It mimics retail trader behavior, identifying liquidity zones where most traders place their stop losses. This data helps traders refine their entries, avoid stop-hunting zones, and even counter-trade losing streaks for better profits.

How we built it

The algorithm was developed using Python, ChatGPT, and MetaTrader. I started by researching how retail traders behave and identifying key patterns in the market. My initial approach aimed for a 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio, but testing revealed that a single strategy was not consistently profitable.

After extensive trial and error, I split the algorithm into two functions—one for buying and one for selling—allowing for manual control based on market conditions. This change significantly improved performance. Further refinements came when I discovered that counter-trading the algorithm's own losing streaks could reduce losses and accelerate account growth.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was achieving consistent profitability. While the bot performed well in trending markets, it struggled in ranging conditions. The breakthrough came when I realized that manually determining when to run the buy or sell function was necessary for success.

Another challenge was the emotional aspect of trading. Relying solely on AI without human oversight led to losses, reinforcing that a hybrid approach—AI for trade signals and human judgment for execution—was the best solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Developing an AI-powered tool that identifies liquidity zones and retail trading behaviors.
  • Turning a struggling algorithm into a profitable confirmation tool.
  • Achieving $30K in demo trading within three days through strategic counter-trading.
  • Creating a solution that enhances traders’ decision-making rather than just automating trades.

What we learned

  • AI alone isn’t the key to profitable trading—it’s how traders use it as a tool.
  • Understanding market structure is essential when deciding when to execute trades.
  • Liquidity zones and stop-hunting patterns play a crucial role in trading success.
  • Hybrid approaches—combining AI analysis with human decision-making—yield better results than full automation.

What's next for AI Liquidity Tracker: Smart Trading Algorithm

The next steps include:

  • Enhancing AI capabilities to adapt to both trending and ranging markets.
  • Developing a user-friendly interface to make it accessible to traders of all experience levels.
  • Testing real-money implementation to move beyond demo trading.
  • Exploring machine learning integration to improve trade selection and risk management.
  • Optimizing counter-trade strategies to maximize profitability while minimizing drawdowns.

AI Liquidity Tracker has already proven to be a powerful tool, and with continued improvements, it has the potential to redefine how traders approach market entries and risk management.
