Inspiration

The Taegeuk symbol—red and blue in perfect flow—mirrored Korea’s magic: ancient temples under neon skies, haenyeo diving beside K-pop beats. I wanted to capture 5,000 years of harmony in 30 seconds, not as a list, but as a heartbeat. The final space pulse? That’s Korea—alive, unified, endlessly evolving.

What it does

"Korea in 30 Beats" is a 30-second AI-crafted cinematic montage showcasing Korean cultural diversity:

  • Gyeongbokgung at sunrise → Jeju haenyeo → Myeongdong K-pop → hanbok vs. modern dance split-screen → kimchi, monks, shaman drums, taekwondo, janggu → diverse smiling faces → Korean peninsula pulsing from space
  • Korean AI female voiceover narrates in poetic rhythm
  • FHD MP4, 16:9, 30fps, no watermark, fully royalty-cleared
  • 100% AI-generated visuals + voice, edited in one free tool

How we built it

Tool: FlexClip (free, all-in-one, no watermark)
Workflow:

  1. Wrote timed script + visual prompts
  2. Used FlexClip AI Text-to-Video with structured prompts (e.g., [0:00] Drone, Gyeongbokgung, sunrise, hanbok)
  3. Generated 8 clips in one pass
  4. Added Korean AI TTS (warm female voice) synced to timeline
  5. Built split-screen (hanbok || K-pop) via layers
  6. Dropped Arirang fusion BGM from library
  7. Applied cinematic teal/orange grade + subtle glow VFX
  8. Exported FHD MP4 in <10 mins

Challenges we ran into

  • AI kept generating male haenyeo → Fixed with stock override + custom AI image
  • Voiceover rushed poetic lines → Split into 6 segments, adjusted speed per emotion
  • Split-screen desync → Locked cuts to music beats using
    latex t_{\text{drop}} = 13.2s
  • No space view of Korea → Imported from Pika Labs free trial as overlay

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • 100% free pipeline with zero watermarks
  • Culturally accurate (verified haenyeo gender, janggu drums, hanbok symbolism)
  • Split-screen fusion of tradition/modernity in one seamless flow
  • Heartbeat finale—peninsula lights pulsing in Taegeuk rhythm
  • Under 15 minutes from idea to export

What we learned

  • AI needs cultural context—prompts alone fail without research
  • Timing = emotion:
    latex \text{Avg shot} = \frac{30s}{10} = 3s \quad \text{(max impact per frame)}
  • Free tools are powerful when you master prompt structure + manual polish
  • Voice speed shapes tone—slow for reverence, fast for energy
