Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of frivolous debates: everyday disagreements that people can argue about endlessly without ever reaching a conclusion. We wanted to turn these debates into something fun, interactive, and engaging by introducing an AI judge to evaluate both sides.

What it does

AI-Judge lets users debate a topic, present opposing arguments, and receive an AI-generated judgment. It evaluates the arguments and determines which side made the stronger case, turning casual disagreements into an interactive competition.

How we built it

We built AI-Judge using Python and AI APIs to process arguments and evaluate debates. We also incorporated speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionality to make the experience more interactive, allowing users to speak their arguments and hear the results.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge we ran into was issues with our microcontroller. We used an ESP32 Board that connected successfully to our computer and IDE environment, but would fail to upload the code giving us an error status. We tried different methods of installing drivers, extensions, and much more, but ended up with the same error.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate different AI services into a single workflow, work with speech recognition and text-to-speech, and troubleshoot issues across APIs and audio processing. We also learned how important response time and user experience are when building interactive AI applications.

What's next for AI-Judge We want this to be a standalone device that doesnt require connection to a computer, similar to Alexa.
