About the Project
Inspiration
Job and internship scams are becoming a serious problem for students and job seekers. Fake recruiters may use attractive salaries, urgent offers, fake company information, or requests for money to trick applicants. We wanted to build a simple tool that helps users check an offer before they trust it.
What We Built
AI JobShield is an AI-powered job and internship scam detection platform. Users can paste a job description, recruitment message, or email content into the system. The application analyzes the submitted text and identifies suspicious patterns commonly associated with fraudulent recruitment.
The system provides:
Risk Score – an easy-to-understand indication of how suspicious the offer is.
Scam Indicators – highlights potentially dangerous patterns in the submitted content.
Reasoning – explains why the offer may be suspicious.
Safety Guidance – provides practical warnings before the user responds or shares personal information.
How It Works
The user submits a job or internship message.
The system preprocesses and analyzes the text.
AI-based analysis identifies suspicious keywords, patterns, and recruitment red flags.
A risk score is generated.
The user receives an explanation of the detected warning signs.
Target Users
The primary users are:
College students
Fresh graduates
Internship seekers
Job seekers
First-time applicants
What We Learned
While developing the project, we focused on turning an AI model into a practical solution rather than simply creating a chatbot. We learned how text data can be processed for classification, how risk scoring can make AI results easier to understand, and how user-focused interfaces can improve the usefulness of AI systems.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was distinguishing potentially fraudulent offers from legitimate opportunities because not every suspicious-looking message is necessarily a scam. We therefore focused on combining multiple indicators and presenting the result as a risk assessment, rather than claiming that every detected offer is definitely fraudulent.
Real-World Impact
AI JobShield aims to help students and job seekers pause and verify suspicious recruitment offers before losing money, sharing sensitive information, or becoming victims of recruitment fraud.
Our goal is simple:
Check first. Trust later.
