Inspiration

Japanese pharmaceutical ads are famous for their fast pace, catchy delivery, and distinctive style. We thought it would be fun to parody that format to advertise something many learners of the Japanese language seek: conversational fluency. This playful approach highlights AI Japanese Tutor as a solution for Japanese mastery, in a way that feels both humorous and memorable.

What it does

The video is a parody Japanese-style pharmaceutical commercial that presents AI Japanese Tutor as the remedy for the struggles faced by Japanese learners, with the playful “side effect” of sudden fluency in the language.

The result is an ad concept that entertains while also showing how AI Japanese Tutor helps learners build fluency in a fun and effortless way — by giving them engaging, low-pressure opportunities to actually speak and practise conversations in Japanese.

How we built it

We used ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas, refine the script, and storyboard the flow of scenes. Google Veo 3 was used to generate the video in a Japanese pharmaceutical-style aesthetic, and iMovie was used for editing and polishing the video into a cohesive ad.

Challenges we ran into

• Striking the right balance between parody and clarity so the message still comes through.
• Matching visuals to the quirky, over-the-top style of Japanese pharma ads.
