Inspiration
I wanted to build something simple but powerful that makes investing easier for everyone. Finance and AI are both fields I’m passionate about, and I saw an opportunity to combine them in a way that’s helpful and smart. I also wanted to create something that feels personal, not generic.
What it does
The AI Investment Portfolio Recommender takes a user’s income, age, risk tolerance, and investment goals, and builds a custom portfolio. It recommends how much to invest in stocks, bonds, and cash. It also gives tax-efficient investment tips, ESG (sustainable investing) suggestions, goal tracking, risk management tools like stop-loss and take-profit prices, and personalized strategies based on user goals.
How we built it
I built the app using Python and Streamlit. I focused on making it lightweight, easy to use, and fast. I added simple functions to calculate portfolio splits, simulate goal tracking with visuals, and suggest smart strategies without overcomplicating things. I didn’t use external APIs or heavy libraries so anyone can run it instantly.
Challenges we ran into
Making sure the app stayed easy to understand without losing value was a challenge. I also had to think about how to recommend smart strategies without making the app too complex or slow. Balancing "efficient" with "simple" took some work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I made an app that gives real, useful investment advice without needing any background in finance. It looks clean, runs smooth, and could actually help people make better decisions.
What we learned
I learned how to connect finance concepts with AI in a way that's useful, not overwhelming. I also learned how to build features like risk management, goal tracking, and tax strategies into an app while keeping the user experience clean.
What's next for AI Investment Portfolio Recommender
Next, I’d like to add real-time stock sentiment analysis, maybe use a basic AI model to predict portfolio growth. Also looking into connecting live stock data APIs and expanding to crypto and real estate investment suggestions.
