Inspiration and what it does

Remember studying Las Meninas in Art Hum? Remember thinking, ‘Wow, I wish I could have that painting, except all the court members are cats, and it’s a 2’x3’ metal framed poster, perfect for loved ones art lovers funny gift’?

You don’t have to wait anymore. Our platform AI ♥️ART is an automatically-curated art store with posters, coasters, mugs, and more, all with prints that reimagine your favorite paintings for the modern world.

We were inspired by recent advancements in AI image generation and our Art Hum classes, and wanted to explore how we could use today’s technology to create new forms of art.

How we built it

Using AI tools and API services, we created a pipeline that automatically:

Scrapes the Internet for the most recent memes, trends, and other sources of popular inspiration (for the hackathon, we started by scraping for animals and famous paintings)
Creates pairs of animals and famous paintings
Uses gpt-4o to generate a prompt for Stable Diffusion
Uses gpt-4o with structured JSON outputs to generate Shopify listing title, description, and hashtags
Uses Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large to generate images
Uses gpt-4o-mini to select images with highest predicted selling success based off user personas and past product sales
Uses Dynamic Mockups to create product photos of different home products like posters, tapestries, and mugs
Uses the Shopify API to upload product listings to Shopify

Challenges we ran into

Etsy API had a 1-3 week approval wait time, meaning we couldn't use it for this hackathon
Deciding how to narrow the scope of images to generate - what do the most customers want?
Figuring out how to best prompt the image generator - natural language didn’t always translate to visual semantic understanding

What's next for AI <3 ART

Use shop data to identify best-selling items and incorporate that data into future product generation
Focus on specific art niches and Internet trends
Expand shop platform to Etsy
Connect to Printify for automated order fulfillment
