AI Hairstyle Changer

Inspiration

AI Hairstyle Changer was built to help people preview different hairstyles before making a real change. Choosing a haircut, hair color, or new style can be difficult because people usually have to imagine the result from reference photos. This project makes the process easier by using AI to generate realistic hairstyle previews from a user-uploaded image.

What it does

AI Hairstyle Changer lets users upload a photo and experiment with different hairstyles, hair colors, and looks. It can help users preview short hair, long hair, curly hair, straight hair, bangs, different colors, and style variations before visiting a stylist or making a decision.

How we built it

The project uses AI image processing and computer vision to understand the uploaded photo, detect the person, and generate hairstyle variations. The web interface is designed to be simple: users upload an image, choose a style, and receive an AI-generated preview.

Challenges

The main challenge was making hairstyle changes look natural while keeping the person's face recognizable. Hair shape, lighting, face angle, and image quality can all affect the result, so the project focuses on creating useful visual previews rather than unrealistic edits.

What we learned

We learned that people want fast, visual, and low-risk ways to explore personal style changes. AI can make this process more accessible by helping users test ideas before committing to a real haircut or color change.

What's next

Future improvements could include more hairstyle categories, better hair color control, male and female style presets, before-and-after comparisons, mobile optimization, and more realistic results for different face angles and hair types.
