Inspiration

The idea for AI Gossip Detective came from everyday conversations — the kind where you're left wondering, "Did they really mean that?" or "Is this message friendly or something more?" Miscommunication is common, and we wanted to create a playful yet insightful tool that helps people decode tone, emotion, and subtle signals in text-based chats.

What it does

AI Gossip Detective allows users to paste a chat conversation between two people, and then analyzes it using AI to detect:

Tone and emotional intensity

Possible intentions (e.g., flirting, sarcasm, lying, etc.)

Overall mood and communication pattern

Context-aware interpretations

It provides a breakdown of hidden meanings, turning an ordinary chat into something fun, deep, and often revealing.

How we built it

We used:

JavaScript/React for the frontend

Groq API (open-weight LLM) for real-time AI analysis

Netlify for deployment

GitHub for team collaboration and version control

The user interface was built to be extremely lightweight and user-friendly, with a strong focus on quick feedback and engagement.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring consistent and accurate emotional detection in varied text tones

Making the interface responsive and mobile-friendly in limited time

Working with free AI resources while maintaining real-time performance

Coordinating tasks as a small, distributed team
