Inspiration

I always used fitnesspal and chronometer to track my progress of losing weight, but could never stick to it, as it took me way too long each day to track my food intake and burned calories.

What it does

You talk via speech to text (openai's AI whisper) in our app to track all your activities and food that you consumed. It sends the text prompt off to gpt, then generates an answer that is directly calculated inside the app into calories burned or consumed.

How we built it

We built it with a low code game dev tool called construct and added whisper's and gpt's API.

Challenges we ran into

Mainly that the app connects well with all the APIs and the math behind the answers gets calculated correctly in the app!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we worked with only a 2 person team and got this demo up and running!

What we learned

That with AI and APIs behind it, you can build something really unique, that even the biggest apps in a niche don't have and do it in a matter of days not weeks or months.

What's next for AI Fitness and calorie tracker!

We have dozens of ideas to extend the App to a full fletched AI nutrition coach and integrate features that other fitness tracking apps have, but make them a lot more user friendly with AI. Examples:

  • Add your constant foods as keywords and it will automatically put the same ingredients and amount in.
  • Prompt people that are dangerously low on calories in the day to eat and what to eat, e.g. if someone didn't track any meal yet until 3pm.
  • You can set your macros and it tells you automatically what you could eat next best to achieve them per day
