Inspiration

Every year, millions of people suffer sudden cardiac arrest - but more than 70% of bystanders do not know how to respond. We realized that panic, lack of training, and delays are the biggest killers. Our inspiration came from one simple question: “How might we empower anyone, anywhere, to take life-saving action within seconds?”

What it does

AI First Aid is a mobile assistant that provides real-time, step-by-step guidance during emergencies.

  • Clear voice + visual instructions for CPR.
  • A built-in metronome to keep the correct rhythm.
  • Instant escalation from “check breathing” → “start CPR”.
  • Works offline, so it’s always available.

It transforms fear into confident action, giving ordinary people the power to save lives.

How we built it

We designed AI First Aid as a clickable mobile prototype (MVP style).

  • Design & UX: Canva and Lovable AI for rapid prototyping.
  • AI flow: voice input → speech-to-text → decision engine → real-time instructions.
  • Guidance content: validated from WHO and European Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Challenges we ran into

  • Creating a clear, calm interface that works under stress.
  • Balancing medical accuracy with simplicity for untrained users.
  • Ensuring the flow feels real even without a fully coded backend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a realistic MVP prototype.
  • Designed a prototype that looks and feels like a working app.
  • Created a solution that could genuinely increase survival rates and empower youth.

What we learned

  • Design thinking is powerful for shaping solutions under time pressure.
  • How to prototype fast with AI tools like Lovable, without full coding.
  • Importance of storytelling: problem → pain points → solution → impact.
  • Medical guidance must be simple, visual, and supportive to reduce panic.

What's next for AI FIRST AID

  • Expand beyond CPR: choking, bleeding control, recovery position.
  • Partner with schools, NGOs, and Red Cross for pilot testing.
  • Add multilingual support for global adoption.
  • Develop a lightweight offline AI engine for use in low-connectivity areas.
  • Ultimately: make every smartphone a potential lifesaving tool.
