Inspiration
We've always been passionate about personal finance, in particular, getting out of loans and student debt. We feel that there aren't enough resources out there that are genuinely tailored to helping people get out of debt, and that financial education is not emphasized enough in our education system either.
What it does
The app takes in your credit card transactions, income, and financial goals, and curates a custom financial plan tailored to helping you reach those goals.
How we built it
We built the app using a React frontend and a flask backend.
Challenges we ran into
We had a large scope of features we wanted to build, and we had to descope a lot in order to finish the project within the given timeframe.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that we can build visualizations using the credit card statements through a simple scan, and that the advice given to the user relies on multiple sources.
What we learned
We learned a lot about collaboration and how to ship out a product in a fast-paced environment.
What's next for AI Financial Planner
We hope to expand to pulling data from other sources and making more informed recommendations, as well as having a financial tracker to see how well the plan is followed up on.
