Inspiration

Growing up in Northern Nigeria, I saw how insecurity and disrupted education can limit opportunities for children. As a primary school teacher, I also noticed that many children have little exposure to AI and digital literacy. This inspired me to build AI Explorer for Kids to make AI education fun, simple, safe, and accessible.

What it does

AI Explorer for Kids is an interactive learning platform for children aged 6–12. It features an AI chatbot, AI quizzes, fun learning facts, multilingual support, and student and teacher dashboards. It can also support children in underserved and IDP communities.

How we built it

We built the prototype using Lovable and ChatGPT, combining AI-assisted development with modern web technologies. We focused on creating simple, engaging, and child-friendly learning experiences.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges included making complex AI concepts understandable to children, limited resources and development time, internet accessibility, multilingual support, and ensuring child-safe AI interactions.

Accomplishments we're proud of

We successfully transformed an education challenge into a working AI-powered learning platform. We are proud of creating a solution focused on Nigerian children and underserved communities and taking the project from an idea to a functional prototype.

What we learned

We learned that impactful innovation starts with understanding real problems. We gained experience in AI development, EdTech, responsible AI, accessibility, and user-centered product design.

What's next for AI Explorer for Kids

We plan to develop a mobile app, add offline/low-bandwidth learning, expand Nigerian language support, improve teacher and parent tools, deploy in schools and IDP communities, and eventually scale across Africa.

Our vision: Give every child the opportunity to explore AI, regardless of where they live or the circumstances they face.
