Inspiration
AI tools are everywhere, but most people don’t realize how much they’re spending each month across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and more. Subscriptions pile up, renewal dates get forgotten, and budgets spiral. We wanted to build something that gives users transparency and control over their AI expenses.
What it does
AI Expense Manager automatically identifies AI-related expenses, visualizes spending trends, and provides AI-powered recommendations to optimize costs. It also tracks active subscriptions, sends renewal alerts, and suggests savings opportunities.
How we built it
We built the frontend with Next.js, React, TailwindCSS, and Chart.js for an interactive dashboard. The backend uses Node.js with API routes and custom algorithms for expense categorization. We integrated Flowglad for subscription management and payments, and Honcho (via Plastic Labs) to power memory, personalization, and intelligent recommendations.

What's next for AI Expense Manager
Expanding beyond AI tools to cover all SaaS subscriptions (Netflix, Notion, Slack, etc.).
Adding automatic transaction imports from bank/credit card APIs (Plaid, Stripe).
Team dashboards for enterprise expense management.
Smarter AI insights that not only suggest cancellations but also recommend better alternatives.
