Inspiration

I am an app builder & a teacher who teaches teenpreneurs how to build apps. There are a lot of vibe coding tools. But without knowing the basics of coding, you'll get stuck at some point and that can be very frustating. I believe that in the future everyone will build apps for themselves or others and at some point in time, needs to learn coding. I have learnt coding many times, from different places, and did not find the right solution:

  1. Coding lessons online are not helpful when you're stuck and there's no one to answer your question.
  2. No custom courses to help you build what you want
  3. Coding video lessons are not clearly visible below 720p and might not be accessible in areas with low internet connectivity
  4. Personal coding tutors are expensive
  5. Almost all coding lessons are in English leaving out non-English speakers who want to learn coding

So I decided to create a reverse vibe coding app where instead of building apps with prompting, you can generate courses by prompting in your own language e.g French, to learn to build apps.

What it does

The app helps students learn coding on their browser through interactive AI videos, by building apps, websites & games, in minutes, in their native language, at 1/10th of video streaming bandwidth costs. The app currently has lessons that teaches HTML, CSS & JavaScript, and building a few apps as well.

How we built it

The app uses : Google Gemini - Coding the apps/lessons Claude - for creating transcripts & lessons Open AI - TTS Monaco - Live coding editor N8N - automations

Challenges we ran into

  1. The biggest challenge is not the technology but how to teach effectively in a way that is both helpful and engaging.

  2. Bringing everything together - prompting the AI, integrating the coding editor, converting the lesson transcripts using TTS, making the lessons beginner friendly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Using vibe coding to build an app that teaches actual coding. Built an app

  1. where you can learn coding by building apps
  2. that consumes low bandwidth i.e audio + text instead of video
  3. that is browser based so that you can start learning and coding without downloading anything

What we learned

I learned that interactive AI coding tutoring in multiple languages actually solves the 90% dropout problem for 2 billion underserved learners.

What's next for AI Coding Tutor

Integrating with automation tools like n8n so that learners can create bespoke courses.
