AI Chef Buddy

Inspiration

Sometimes the same dishes can get a little boring. AI Chef Buddy helps you in getting creative with the ingredients you have.

What it does

AI Chef Buddy is a B2C SaaS project. Users just need to enter ingredients into a textfield, select a few options and let AI Chef Buddy generate AI recipes for them. AI Chef Buddy is powered by OpenAI for AI recipe generation.

How we built it

In this project I've created a new database collection to keep track of daily recipe usage, installed a npm package for interation with OpenAi, used wixData (from wix-data) to check/insert/update data to database collection and used orders (from wix-pricing-plans) to get the user's data and plan. And of course, I used Wix for the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

First time using Wix, so I was initially unsure of how to work the elements. But it was easy to pickup.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a SaaS with AI features on Wix. I wouldn't have thought that building a SaaS on Wix was possible before I tried it out. In fact, it was easy.

What we learned

Velo is well documented and easy to use. Using Velo's integrated APIs and services, i didn't need to create my own signup/login, payment plans, customer database. Adding 3rd party functionality was easy through installing npm libraries. Doing up the frontend was also easy with Wix.

What's next for AI Chef Buddy

This is a fun project for the hackathon. To test the features of Wix and Velo. If there is traction, I will try to explore new features that can be added and also expand on the revenue model.
