Inspiration
Most of our generation is on the move - whether it’s heading to college, starting a new job, or chasing a dream opportunity. And moving is stressful. Our goal is to take some of that burden off our users’ shoulders.
What it does
Our website takes in user data and compares different living locations. It uses GEMINI to generate a personalized profile and provide insights into the living costs of each location.
How we built it
We built the app with a Python and PHP back end and a JavaScript-powered front end. Our data base is SQL.
Challenges we ran into
Three out of four of us were first-time hackathoners. Only one teammate had prior experience, and even then, just once. Coming up with ideas and learning how to collaborate effectively was a brand-new challenge. On top of that, picking up new coding languages under time pressure wasn’t easy. Learning how to use GitHub effectively was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The app is fully functional! We also made sure it works seamlessly on both mobile and desktop.
What we learned
Coming up with ideas is tough. Turning them into reality through design and code is even tougher - but incredibly rewarding.
What's next for AI Budget App Locator
We plan to expand its features and eventually release it to the public so everyone can see our work.
