Inspiration

Developers often face high stress and long hours, leading to burnout and decreased productivity. I created an AI agent that monitors the developer’s physical and emotional state in real-time to optimize the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) by ensuring they stay healthy and focused.

What it does

AI Bio-Feedback Agent analyzes real-time heart rate (BPM) and emotional states via camera feed. Acting as a digital teammate within the GitLab Duo Agent Platform, it triggers specific adaptive strategies like Circuit Sage when focus is detected, provides wellness tips, and suggests targeted nutrition to maintain high performance.

How we built it

Frontend: Built with React 19 and Tailwind CSS for a professional dark-mode interface. The professional dark-mode interface, built with Tailwind CSS, was specifically designed to reduce eye strain and seamlessly integrate with the high-performance aesthetics of the GitLab environment. GitLab Integration: I leveraged the GitLab Duo Agent Platform (powered by Anthropic) and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate agent deployment and state-switching. This allowed me to orchestrate complex AI workflows directly within the GitLab ecosystem. Biometrics: Integrated MediaPipe for real-time face and heart rate tracking. AI Logic & Visuals: Augmented the agent's capabilities using OpenAI for personalized wellness advice and Together AI (Flux) for high-fidelity, context-aware imagery.

Challenges we ran into

A major challenge I faced was accurately calculating heart rate via webcam and seamlessly mapping emotional triggers (like "96.9% Happy") to GitLab Duo automation protocols without interrupting the coding workflow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I successfully deployed a functional prototype on GitLab, completing all 7/7 development checklist items. The project now delivers a measurable impact: +30% coding efficiency and -24% CO2 reduction through mindful, state-aware development.

What we learned

I mastered the GitLab Duo Agent Platform architecture, learning how to bridge human biometric data with automated cloud-native pipelines.

What's next for AI Bio-Feedback Agent

I aim to expand the Circuit Sage and EcoSpark protocols to include automated GitLab issue triaging and security reviews based on the developer's real-time cognitive load.
