Inspiration## ⚡ Why I’m Building This AI Learning Platform

The Wake-Up Call

AI is moving fast—too fast for most people to keep up. After working in tech, I’ve seen firsthand how unprepared we are—especially when it comes to kids.

This isn’t just about screen time. It’s about changes in brain activity, emotional dependency on AI companions, and social consequences from using powerful tools they don’t yet understand.

The Real Fear

We’re handing kids AI before we’ve given them the tools to understand it. That leaves them vulnerable to:

  • AI-generated misinformation
  • Loss of critical thinking
  • Emotional manipulation by chatbots
  • Blurring the line between real and synthetic

The Hope

But here’s what gives me hope:

If we teach kids how AI works—and how to use it wisely—they won’t just survive this future. They’ll lead it.

That’s why I’m building this platform.

It’s a space where:

  • Kids learn with AI, not just about it
  • Live instructors and AI assistants team up to teach together
  • Story-based lessons build real-world critical thinking
  • Safety, responsibility, and creativity are the foundation

The Mission

To help kids future-proof themselves—by understanding the very tools that will shape their world.

They’ll surprise us.
They always do.

What it does

AI Adventures Learning Platform

The Problem: Other educational tools use AI to deliver content, but don't teach kids how to think critically about AI itself.

Our Solution: We teach kids to be smart AI users, not just AI consumers.

Our platform uses creative capabilities to teach 3rd-6th graders how to think critically about AI while building essential life skills.

What Students Learn

AI Literacy & Critical Thinking

  • Become 'AI detectives' - learning to spot AI-generated content
  • Fact-check information and evaluate sources
  • Ask better questions and craft effective prompts
  • Practice real scenarios: "Should I use AI for my book report?"

Executive Functioning Skills

  • Break down projects into manageable steps
  • Set meaningful goals and create action plans
  • Reflect on learning process and develop self-awareness
  • Learn that AI is a thinking partner, not a shortcut

Digital Citizenship

  • Develop classroom guidelines for responsible AI use
  • Understand privacy and safety in AI interactions
  • Build ethical decision-making around technology

The Impact

We're not just preparing kids for tests - we're preparing them to be thoughtful, responsible users of the technology that will shape their futures. And we're doing it at the age when these habits and mindsets are formed.

Key Differentiator

Instead of AI replacing human thinking, our platform uses AI to make human thinking stronger. Our classes run with both a live instructor and an AI avatar working in tandem - showing students exactly how life with AI actually works. Students see the human teacher and AI collaborate in real-time: the teacher provides context, emotional support, and creative guidance while the AI handles research, generates examples and interactive games on the fly, and offers different perspectives. This tandem learning model teaches kids that the future isn't human vs. AI - it's human with AI, and learning works the same way.

How we built it

Our platform is built using Bolt.new for rapid interface development, Chatgpt and Gemini for idea refinement, image generation, Tavus for AI avatar technology (first to use to interface on site but eventually to allow avatar to be on calls with class), Supabase and Github, Netlify and Entri to get a working site up. I will be leveraging Claude's creative tools for personalized educational content and interactive games for the delivery of the classes. By building with AI rather than just about AI, we demonstrate the responsible collaboration model we teach. As a non-technical mompreneur, I will be fixing and building as problems come along. More tools will be used and better ways to build may have been missed.

Challenges we ran into

Learning how to use Bolt.new was a mega-challenge. I didn't understand how to use the build vs. chat function until the last week of the hackathon. I had to rebuild everything in the last week and many things are not fully functional. I did not understand basic things about development so really felt challenged to get through standard things like Github, Supabase integrations and how to deploy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I participated and completed a MVP for the hackathon. This is no easy feat for a non-techie, working full time as well as a mom of 3.

What we learned

I can leverage my time from my corporate career to understand all of the things that need to be there to meet customer expectations from time working in market research, finance, media and advertising, such as easy to use UI, the look and feel of a professional site as all of these superficial things build trust. Once trust goes, the business goes.

What's next for AI Adventures

I will be integrating stripe and a calendar app in order to schedule classes and convert onsite. I want to make this MVP work locally and scale internationally. More AI integrations such as Google's real time translation during class sessions (to conduct classes in other languages) and integrate Claude's flashcards and other teaching aids to keep kids engaged and generate their own customized versions.
