Inspiration
For the AI Accessibility Transcriber, we were inspired by a student in one of our group members classes. This student was hard of hearing and we wanted to make an application to help those with learning disabilities to enhance their learning experience.
What it does
We connected an AI in order to transcribe uploaded video lectures and applied various settings according to the users response onto the transcript. Based on what you may identify most closely with, you are offered learning preferences to help following along with the lecture easier.
Challenges we ran into
We were having issues with connecting the AI backend to the frontend that allowed the transcription. The database was also tough because we were trying to connect it to the users login detail.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finally got an AI to transcribe videos and we were happy with our learning process of prompting AI in order to build our application.
What we learned
We learned about advanced Typescript and Node.js. It was fun creating a full stack developed program that had a frontend, an AI backend, and an implemented database.
What's next for AI Accessibility Transcriber
We want to continue adding other learning preferences to create a greater scope of access for a variety of people.
