Inspiration
Pitt actually has all the information the students need, but they are separated and presented in a super inconvenient way. This Web app is formed with all the information collected from peoplesoft, pitt dining and Pitt news, and implemented with a little funny game for new students to know what the campus life is like.
What it does
Shows the dining and news information at Pitt, and present course selection in and cross colleges in a graph, and highlighted repeated courses of graduation requirements of different colleges. And here is another little game called Pitt Student Simulator presented college life in a simple and funny way.
How we built it
The web app is overall structured with a django structure. Inside Django, I used PittAPI to collect news and dining information, and presented it clearly; And front end technique is implemented to achieve the course selection module and Pitt Student Simulator module.
Challenges we ran into
As a freshman and worked alone, it's pretty a lot work load to figure out how the api keys work, collect data, building django structure. The most challenge I want through this process is debugging PittAPI, which turns out that it's api key itself is outdated, thus I have to take down all my code and start over again.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The code is running without error!!!!!!!😭 As the first webpage I ever made it's functional! and it's most decent designed with the help of AI.
