Inspiration
I was stoked to hear that a big software company like IBM is organising a datathon to not only encourage data enthusiasts but also give them a one class experience on the latest IBM Z mainframe computer. What inspired our team to take part was working on a new technology which would enhance our knowledge and make us better learners. And as for the project we chose, AGROTECH, we were inspired by the fact that no innovation other than machine learning has been able to contribute to climate change, food security and environmental sustainability to this extent. Being a part of a developing country, we thought of getting a chance to work on a sector that is actually a main source of income for our country. It was a real pleasure thinking that our solution can be actually useful for farmers on job.
The learning was immensely prevalent during the whole course of datathon, and even before it started. Just working on a new environment was a booster for our team, and we got to tackle with an entirely new technology which did not have many resources.
We are working in the Python language and have used the great IBM Z in the backend service which has made our analysis quicker and more efficient.
