About the Project
Inspiration I was inspired by the vibrant poultry markets in Northern Nigeria where I saw a big problem. Skilled farmers in Kano had quality products but could not easily sell to buyers in other states due to language barriers and a lack of digital trust. I wanted to build a solution that felt natural to them. I did not want a boring app. I wanted to vibe code a platform that looked as organic as the farm itself and spoke their language.
How I Built It I used a modern mobile approach to make sure the app works on any phone.
- Design: I chose a Hyper Realistic Nature theme. Instead of flat colors I used textures like wood and leaf veins to make the app feel immersive.
- Language: I built a custom engine that switches the whole app between English and Hausa instantly.
- Tech: The app runs on React Native which allows it to be fast even on slow networks.
What I Learned I learned that building for trust is just as hard as building the code. Making the app bilingual was not just about translating words. It was about making the Hausa users feel at home. I also learned how to balance high quality graphics with speed so the app does not lag.
Challenges The biggest challenge was organizing the location data. We had to make sure users could filter products by all 36 States plus FCT without the app getting slow. Another challenge was creating the Community Forum where farmers can help each other. We had to design it to be safe and helpful.
The Math of Trust We realized that the value of our network ($V$) grows faster when we add trust ($T$) to the connection between farmers ($f$) and buyers ($b$). We express this growth like this:
$$ V = T \times (f + b)^2 $$
