Agriculture is the backbone of Ethiopia’s economy, yet millions of local farmers struggle with low profits due to middlemen, lack of transparency, and limited access to reliable buyers. We wanted to solve this problem using modern decentralized technology.
AgroLink Web3 was born from the idea of empowering farmers by giving them direct access to markets, fair pricing, and trust through blockchain.
What It Does
AgroLink is a decentralized farming marketplace that allows farmers to:
Showcase and sell their agricultural products directly
Receive fair payments using smart contracts
Build trust with verified buyer–seller interactions
Enjoy transparency across the supply chain
Buyers benefit from guaranteed product authenticity and secure Web3 transactions. How We Built It
We designed AgroLink using Polkadot’s interoperable ecosystem to ensure scalability and multi-chain compatibility. Smart contracts handle transactions securely, while the frontend offers a simple experience for farmers and buyers.
Challenges We Faced
Making blockchain UX beginner-friendly for users with little tech exposure
Managing identity verification for farmers without centralized systems
Integrating decentralized logic while keeping the interface lightweight
Deploying on test networks with limited developer tools for agriculture-focused dApps
What We Learned
We learned how blockchain can solve real-world economic problems and how Polkadot enables cross-chain communication — a key factor for future agricultural supply chain expansion.
AgroLink is more than a marketplace — it aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s digital agriculture ecosystem and bring Web3 benefits to farmers who need them most.
