Inspiration

There are a couple of farmer friends I have and their major complaint is acquiring funds to produce more products from their farms and loans are typically worst options because of the overly charged interest rates and sometimes getting good deals from consumers, factories, retailers, wholesalers, etc., can be a bit of a headache. After some long hard pondering, brainstorming sessions, group sessions and other engagement discussions and decided to build AgriVest. AgriVest is an multi layered platform to bridge the connection between farmers, investors, consumers (whether a factory or wholesale or retail or regular consumers) and suppliers.

Here is how they intercept, investors are people looking to put money down to get a return on investment. Farmers are looking for funds to support their farms and keep it running so funds are allocated to farmers and then they give ROIs to investors which is a combination of farm goods and money that is depending on what the investor decides to receive.

What it does

AgirVest is a multi functional platform that offers DeFi, AI, and education. On AgriVest anyone can be a farmer and an investor, when you register as an investor this means all you want to do is find farms that interest you and put money down under it to fund its growth in return for profits and farm produce. Next you can can also register as a farmer, as a farmer you will be capable to listing farms to put down for investors to support its growth. As a farmer you can also be an investor if you are interest in a sector of farming that you want to get into but don't know how to, this gives you a chance to invest in one and then learn about it or reap profits from it fostering a collaborative network.

The education part comes in where we educate new farmers. You have become interested in farming and you decide to acquire a land to start a farm but have zero idea on what to do, with our education feature we support with AI chat where you can prompt an AI agent to give guides as to what to do and how to get it done. There is also a section where you can watch AI generated videos based off real people, that is their replicas. It creates the sense of actually getting advice from the actual person and the responses they themselves will give if you asked the questions. A video conferencing session is another option if you want to communicate with the AI replica in real-time and get quick feedbacks.

Tavus with Daily handles the replicas and persona system with the video conferencing whiles we use RevenueCat to for farmer replica subscription. Its a subscription system where if a farmer creates a replica of himself and serving the videos on the platform he can decide to put it up for a fee for people to subscribe to.

How we built it

Using Bolt AI the project was brought to life and there were a lot of iterations to get it working. With a clear vision and vivid understanding of what the system will do it was easy to get to work on building. Using Tavus persona and replicas were created and the using ElevenLabs AI conversation we were able to achieve the real-time communication.

Challenges we ran into

Building AgriVest was both a rewarding and technically demanding experience. One of the primary challenges we faced was working with Bolt AI. While it offered powerful capabilities, the prompt-to-output alignment was inconsistent. Getting the model to follow exact instructions often required several trial-and-error iterations, which consumed time and affected development speed.

We also ran into several bottlenecks when integrating Tavus. At one point, access to the Tavus account was restricted for nearly a day, halting the entire development pipeline involving the video replicas. Beyond access issues, we encountered problems with video generation—despite multiple attempts and tweaks to formats, inputs, and parameters, videos simply wouldn't render as expected. Debugging this issue involved back-and-forth communication and deep testing, which was both mentally and technically exhausting.

Scalability concerns also began surfacing when we started implementing real-time features such as video conferencing with AI personas. Managing the load, ensuring low-latency performance, and maintaining a seamless user experience required significant back-end considerations, especially given our intent to support farmers in remote, low-bandwidth regions.

Integration of Payment plan subscription system using ReveneCat. Apparently, RevenueCat required a stripe account to be connected and since stripe is not natively supported in Ghana, Africa integrating it was quite impossible to achied.

Finally, conceptual challenges came into play when trying to design a platform that merges DeFi, education, and AI support in one ecosystem without overwhelming users. Ensuring a user-friendly UI/UX that supports both tech-savvy investors and grassroots-level farmers was a constant balancing act.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the hurdles, we achieved several significant milestones that form the foundation of AgriVest:

✅ Built a functional multi-role platform that supports farmers, investors, and consumers, allowing seamless interaction between all three stakeholder groups.

✅ Successfully integrated AI-driven education tools, including AI replicas, interactive chat support, and real-time video conferencing—features that can scale access to expert farming knowledge.

✅ Enabled dual-role capabilities so users can operate as both farmers and investors, making the platform more collaborative and engaging.

✅ Laid the groundwork for a DeFi-based funding system, offering an alternative to high-interest traditional loans and creating a more inclusive agricultural economy.

✅ Implemented a working subscription model using RevenueCat, allowing farmers to monetize their expertise and generate passive income through their AI replicas.

✅ Connected advanced AI technologies like Tavus, ElevenLabs, and Bolt AI into a single cohesive platform—a technical integration challenge we’re proud to have accomplished.

Above all, the biggest achievement was validating the core concept: that by combining decentralized finance, education, and AI, we can create a viable ecosystem that empowers farmers, engages investors, and benefits consumers.

What we learned

Using AI to build application has certainly come a long way and although it might not replace people it has the potential to make certain people be kicked off work if they are not capable to grabbing the use of AI to elevate themselves. The challenge exposed me to so many technologies that I have lost count.

Building AgriVest has been an eye-opening journey into the transformative potential of AI, blockchain, and decentralized platforms in solving real-world problems. One of the biggest takeaways was the realization that AI can be a powerful enabler, especially for industries like agriculture that are traditionally underserved by advanced technology. Whether it was automating education through AI-generated personas or facilitating investments via DeFi tools, the integration of AI across layers proved to be a game-changer.

We also learned the importance of user-centric design—many farmers may not be tech-savvy, so crafting intuitive user flows, simplifying technical jargon, and offering multiple modes of interaction (video, audio, text) became critical.

The project also reinforced the idea that interdisciplinary collaboration—merging agriculture, finance, and technology—is the future. It challenged us to think not just like developers or entrepreneurs, but like end-users, especially smallholder farmers, investors, and educators.

Lastly, we saw firsthand how resilience and adaptability are just as important as technical skills. There were times when tools failed, access was denied, and progress stalled, but staying persistent and flexible was key to overcoming those roadblocks.

What's next for AgriVest

AgriVest is just scratching the surface of what it can become. Moving forward, we have a number of exciting plans in the pipeline:

Expand Functional Modules Several features, like the AI video conferencing and farm-education subscriptions, are currently in a minimal or beta state. We plan to fully flesh out these modules, providing robust dashboards for farmers and investors, as well as integrated chat and voice support with AI personas.

Smart Contracts & DeFi Layer Enhancements We're working on incorporating smart contracts to better manage investor-farmer agreements. This will include automated ROI disbursements and staking models that make the investment process more secure, transparent, and trustless.

Farmer Credit Score System A decentralized reputation and credit system for farmers will be added. Based on past performance, delivery consistency, and community reviews, this feature will allow investors to make more informed decisions about where they put their money.

Localized Language Support Recognizing the diversity of our target users, we plan to roll out localized language support, voice-to-text commands, and audio-based education for farmers who may not be fluent in English or comfortable with reading-heavy interfaces.

Gamified Learning and Certification To enhance engagement in the education section, we’ll introduce gamified learning paths with badges, certificates, and incentive tokens that users can redeem within the ecosystem.

Marketplace Integration One of our goals is to build a marketplace where farm produce can be directly listed and purchased by retailers, wholesalers, or even individual consumers. This closes the loop and empowers farmers to have direct-to-market access.

Mobile App and Offline Mode Given that many of our users may have limited or intermittent internet access, a mobile app with offline capabilities is in development. This will allow farmers to sync data when online, but still access core functionality even without internet.

Community and DAO Formation We envision a future where governance decisions on AgriVest—such as feature rollouts, farmer verification, and education priorities—are voted on by the community. Creating a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) structure will help make the platform truly by and for its users.

AgriVest is more than just a tech product—it's a movement to democratize agriculture funding and education. With continued iteration and community feedback, we’re confident AgriVest can revolutionize how farming, funding, and food systems connect in the digital age.
