Inspiration

Over 20% of India’s Farmers live below the poverty line Farmers in India are stuck in a back breaking loop of poverty. They do not have the funds required to obtain the resources they need. They are stuck in such a manner that they cannot sow new crops or continue growing the existing ones. They are under immense financial pressure and lack a stable income. A large number of people do not understand how investments work. They often invest in the wrong place and lose a lot of money. They often end up in crisis because of this. There is no clarity nor guarantee regarding their returns. Farmers need a solution that allows them to not worry about their finances and enables them to focus only on the farming. Investors need a safe place where they can invest to get assured.

How we built it

We are building a website which caters to both farmers and common people. Farmers can lease their land or work in other people's lands to get a stable income. He will be receiving a monthly income which will help lower his financial burden. Investors can get fixed returns on their investments. We are obtaining the farmers details and land details. The investor can view the required details and make an investment based upon his choice. They will be shown their return amount using a share calculator which displays the rate of Interest and uses their input to display their return amount. We are implementing a yield prediction model which displays the percentage of yield expected by the farmer. The farmer produces the crops which will be obtained by the company.

Challenges we ran into

We mainly faced a lot of challenges in implementing and integrating Machine Learning with our website. We faced multiple issues while linking our machine learning model to our website. We tried various algorithms and have implemented the algorithm which is giving us maximum accuracy. We faced an issue in integrating the payments page into our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to figure out a unique solution that solved the entire problem statement given. We gained a lot of knowledge in the field of machine learning, web development and finance. We were able to think along the lines of a farmer and understand their pain points.

What we learned

We learnt about the workings of machine learning. We understood how investments work. We understood how to link various machine learning algorithms with our website and how to integrate various APIs and how to develop a multi domain project.

What's next for AgriVest

We plan to implement blockchain to give them a platform where everything is accounted for. We will be improving our transparency and decentralization. We will try to impose our idea globally to increase capital and increase the profits as much as possible.
